Gain Your Confidence: Why loving yourself is more important than you think.
Have you ever come across advertisements on the TV or social media that have a pretty woman in it and then you begin to wonder “Is that how every woman should look like?” “Why am I not as pretty?”. Well, the truth is that women in most advertisements are portrayed as very beautiful, tall, attractive, with a perfect body, size, shape, with no marks or scars. This, however, isn’t how everyone looks like or needs to look like.
In reality, beauty is all about accepting oneself no matter how they appear. There is no ideal shape, size, height, gender or skin. Feeling confident in your own body, no matter how you look, is the key to improve self-esteem. While talking about self-confidence, it is important to note how self-love plays a huge role in boosting self-confidence. No matter how you look, if you don’t love yourself enough, it becomes harder to be able to feel confident.
Here are some ways how you can begin to love yourself from today:
1. Start off your day with Yoga or Exercise:
Try exercising in the mornings to help you feel better. Yoga will calm you and bring you peace. You will feel a whole lot better once you get working and sweat it out.
2. Don’t compare yourself to other people:
Everyone is different. You are unique in your own ways. While comparing yourself I a natural tendency of every person, since we’re competitive, there’s more harm done to yourself than good. Remember that you are the best version of you and there isn’t anyone like you. This is your journey.
3. Put yourself first:
It’s not that you’re being selfish, but it is vital to take care of yourself first before others. That’s why while on the plane, the air hostess instructs us that in any case of emergency, you should first put on the oxygen mask on yourself and then assist the person beside you! Similarly, according to the situation, you need to put yourself first. Sometimes by putting others first becomes a habit which may come at the expense of your mental and emotional health.
4. Your body should not determine your worth:
I cannot stress more on this. To become confident, the key is to embrace yourself however you are. You are valuable because you are you, not because of your body.
5. Make Mistakes and grow from them:
Allow yourself to make mistakes and learn from them. Don’t be harsh on yourself for them but understand the lesson the mistake taught you. Grow from your mistakes.
6. Be kind to yourself:
If something goes bad and if you feel accountable for it, don’t be too hard on yourself. speak kindly to yourself, and don’t self-abuse. Celebrate yourself. You’ve come so far and grown so much. Don’t forget to celebrate yourself and enjoy.
Lastly and most importantly, LIVE. Take it easy! Enjoy yourself with every small victory you win. You’ll begin to love yourself for everything. This will be the foundation of your confidence and you will reach greater heights.
